Tips for stitching Christmas patterns
- Each pattern is about 35 stitches tall, around 2.5 inches on 14-count Aida: the right size for ornaments, gift tags and cards.
- Start a few weeks ahead if they are gifts. One small pattern takes an evening or two, and finishing ornaments with felt backs takes longer than you expect.
- White designs like the snowman show best on light blue, grey or red Aida.

Questions
Are these Christmas patterns really free?
Yes. Every pattern downloads as a free printable PDF with the chart, the thread key and floss amounts, and no account is needed. You can stitch them as gifts or sell the finished pieces.
How do I turn a pattern into a Christmas ornament?
Stitch it on 14-count Aida, trim the fabric about 1/4 inch outside the design, glue or stitch it to a slightly larger piece of felt, and add a ribbon loop at the top.
Can I stitch a Christmas photo instead?
Yes. The pattern creator on our home page turns your own photo, such as a pet in a Santa hat, into a pattern with DMC colors. Patterns up to 60 × 60 stitches are free.
