Tips for stitching landscapes

  • Skies and water are big areas of a few close colors: relaxing to stitch, but count carefully where one shade turns into the next.
  • Stitch the details first, such as a boat, a lighthouse or the edge of a mountain, then fill the sky and water around them.
  • At 120 stitches across, a landscape comes out about 8.6 inches wide on 14-count Aida, a good size for a standard frame with a mat.
